It’s been nearly a decade since Loreena McKennitt’s last studio album, The Book of Secrets.
But after some personal travails, including the death of her fiancé, she has returned with an album that picks up where Secrets left off. On An Ancient Muse, McKennitt is still mining middle eastern themes and creating exotic stories of far away lands and ancient times that just happen to be in the news every day. There’s almost no Celtic influence here and little harp, which has been her trend over the last few albums. We’ll be hearing this a lot in the fall.

Dear Echoes, I was glad to see a posting about Miss McKennitt as, I’ve been a fan of her’s for several years now.Anyways, thanks for taking the time to cover many aspects of music that often tends to go un-noticed.
